At Intrusive Theatre, we are dedicated to creating an environment of connection, unfiltered feelings/thoughts, love and transformative art. By understanding the intricate relationship between mental health and the performing arts, our goal is to inspire both individual and collective healing through powerful storytelling and immersive theatre experiences.
At Intrusive Theatre, we are passionate about connecting with and inspiring younger generations. We believe that everyone should have access to the power of the arts.
Within our run of shows we dedicate a minimum of 2 performances where our audience is soely young people. By working with local schools, colleges and youth groups we are able to host a community event that inspires, entertains and educates.
The young people are given the opportunity to…
- Shadow a member of the Intrusive Theatre team to gain a realistic experience of working on a theatre production.
- Participate in our pre-show open mic event where we encourage students to share art that touches on the topics in the show.
- Meet & greet with the actors
- A post-show Q&A where they can ask any questions or share thoughts about the show.
Send us a message to see if we have availability within our Young People Days to give your young people a theatrical experience of a lifetime!
The play follows 7 young adults growing up in Tottenham and their encounters with mental health, sexual assault and rape, addiction, identity, gang culture and other social issues young people in Tottenham and throughout London face.
By personifying all our characters thoughts, the play gives a raw and honest insight into the minds of young people in London and illustrate how poor mental health can lead to extremely destructive choices.
Each audience is welcomed with an introductory talk and an open debrief post show, where they can talk with the actors about the process and share any thoughts and feelings.
Kyra was inspired by her own personal experiences growing up in Tottenham, North London (an area with high rates of gang violence). It was extremely important to her that her characters and stories were relatable to be able to connect to her target audience members (15-25). Similarly to all of Intrusive's content, we hope it will be a stimulant to personal healing and identifying where professional help is required.
